Editorial Style

To convey key messages effectively and offer a unified, positive representation of Evangel University to prospective students, parents, alumni, donors and the community at large, the Evangel University Brand requires a single, consistent copy style.

All copywriters, editors and contributors at Evangel University should use Associated Press (AP) style for content that promotes the university. AP style provides guidelines for grammar and punctuation and is the primary publication style used around the country. The AP Stylebook can be found online at apstylebook.com. Registration is required.

For digital communications, AP style standards will remain in effect; however, social media platforms and blogs often allow for breaking away from structured writing. For our university blog writer’s guidelines, email marketing@evangel.edu.

The online AP Stylebook can answer most questions about style and usage, but any questions not addressed may be submitted to marketing@evangel.edu.

In addition, copy produced in cooperation with and for the Assemblies of God National Leadership and Resource Center should follow its style guidelines.
